Monkeys don’t just live in circusses. Don’t think you are in a circus because of all the monkeys the Internet has feeded and grown. Don’t fall for wonderfull graphics and animations, every place you are having fun is not a night club. Your job is not to hoodwink people, to let them read mottos that somersault fifteen times with animations.
Don’t loose your point while learning this business. Your main job, is to let people access the information. If your website isn’t accessible, its usage becomes difficult, even impossible. So you can’t promote, sell products and motivate people the way you’d wish.
Accessibility, is the fact that a website is properly designed for the usage of everyone with or without obstacles. In this way, everyone can understand websites, travel through pages, interact and contribute for the content.
As we can’t always know who’s forming our target group, we should design websites to be accessible for everyone if possible. Thus, each user will know how to reach the information he wants or how to accomplish the procedures.
Accessibility includes all the obstacles that prevent the access to websites. Because millions of people have obstacles preventing them from accessing websites like seeing, hearing, speaking, physical, cognitive and neurologic obstacles.
As the importance of the web for education, business life and state issues is growing, the access of disabled people to knowledge and their communication is getting easier. As a result, disabled people become more active in society.
Unfortunately it is very difficult and even impossible for disabled people to profit from many websites. The reason for that is that websites don’t support accessibility and web designers are not informed about the main accessibility principles or don’t understand their importance. But as web designers like you design more accessible websites, disabled people can profit from websites and contribute better.
To let users with different platforms, browsers, mobile devices and softwares and also disabled users profit from your website under the same circumstances is not only personally but also institutionally under your social responsability. And in some situations, accessibility is even a legal charge. Most of the modern countries have legal arrangements and principles in force about this.

The fact that a website is designed properly for popular usage features and additional softwares that disabled people use for surfing increases its accesssibility. As a result, visitors access much more easily and faster the information on the website, complete their operations much more easier. So, the website becomes richer, the user satisfaction increases, the target group grows and it reaches easier its goals. As a web designer, you are the one that profits the most from that. You’ll look more professionnal, gain good references, sign for bigger projects. In short, you’ll earn more money ;).
As you are reading this article, you desire to develop yourself. That’s why I can repeat you the same thing for hundred times : “Attach importance for accessibility! Attach importance for accessibility! Attach importance for accessibility!…”
Leave the disabled people, other users, legal arrangements, personal and institutional responsabilities aside. Think again. If you wish to design more professionnal websites, earn more money, keep the promesses you told yourself, have a good career about web design you have to design websites that are highly accessible.
